simply nicole pregnancy update

Hello, hello. I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday! I had a busy, but at times relaxing, weekend. I spent time with family, ordered a lot of Christmas presents, got our tree up and decorated, washed some of baby’s clothes and blankets, and even took a few naps. I’m excited though to get back into the swing of things, buckle down, and get my to-list completed for December. There’s no reason other than intuition, but I think baby girl will be making her debut earlier than expected. That being said, I’m trying to get everything completed at work and at home well in advance while I’m still feeling pretty good. Let’s get into this week’s bump date!

29 Week Bump Date

Baby is the Size of a: Hawaiian pineapple {approx. 16.5 inches long, 2.9 pounds}

Gender: Little lady.

Names: Still keeping it a secret.

How I’m Feeling: The leg cramps are gone, but they’ve been replaced with pelvic cramps {maybe more Braxton Hicks?} and lower back pain. The cramping pain is normal, from what I’ve read online. They feel like mild period cramps, but I’m going to let my doctor know at my appointment this weekend anyway.

Recent Purchases: We received a lot of big items at my shower {stroller, car seat, activity mat, etc.}, so this week I took advantage of some Black Friday deals and picked up some other essentials. From Pottery Barn Kids, I bought a changing pad cover, changing pad, and a diaper caddy. Our changing table is finally starting to come together!

I had some credit at Babies R Us, so I got a bunch of stuff from there too. However, BRU doesn’t have the best shipping options, so I found the items on Amazon for you to shop instead. My sister-in-law gave the Aden + Anais Burpy Bibs rave reviews, so I got two for now and plan to buy more. I love them because they are really large and will cover my shoulder and back while I’m burping baby girl.  I also bought a Dr. Brown’s bottle brush, Earth Mama natural nipple cream, Pampers Swaddlers in the newborn size, a Nose Frida, Safety First nail clippers with light, infant Tylenol, and crib mattress pad

Cravings: Halo oranges, honeycrisp apples and fruit smoothies

Aversions: None.

Best Moment this Week: The past few days have been quite busy, but I feel like I got a lot accomplished. On Sunday, Bryan and I toured the labor and delivery wing of our hospital. It went great, and we both feel at ease. The hospital was built a few years ago, so everything is really clean and new. The nurses all seemed friendly as well.

Another best moment this week was getting my gestational diabetes screening results back. The test wasn’t bad at all, and the results came back normal. I do have a slight iron deficiency, so I’ve started taking an iron supplement in the mornings.

Sleeping: I’ve been sleeping just fine nothing significant to report in this department. I wish I could sleep all day, but that’s not feasible right now, so I take naps on the weekends when I can. I know I need to slow down a bit during the holidays this year and not take too many things on, and that’s going to be an adjustment for sure.

Rings: are on, but barely. I can wear them during the day, but after 5pm they start feeling really tight. I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to wear them, so I might have to look into an affordable silver band to wear in the coming months.

Baby Movement: She moves a lot during the day, and in the middle of the night when I get up to go to the bathroom. I can sleep through the movements for now, so I’ll take it!

Labor Signs: None so far. I do think baby will come a couple weeks early though. Call it mother’s intuition.

Looking Forward to: It’s a bit bittersweet, but I’m looking forward to spending our last holiday season together as a family of 2 (+ Pete). Bryan and I both have some days off in December, so I’m hoping that we make some short day trips and do something festive.
