Dealing with guilt

Last night, I decided that I wouldn’t be getting up this morning for my morning run.  Me and Bry had to go pick up his grandmother at her Bridge tournament about 45 minutes away, thus we had to leave here around 8:15am.  I’ve definitely been lacking on the sleep thing  lately.  Although in my last post, I said I would be getting to bed earlier these next few days, I didn’t fall asleep last night until after 11pm.

So anyway, after we picked up his grandmother this morning she treated us to a diner near her house.  They have the only place I’ve ever been to with fresh squeezed orange juice.  It’s delicious.

check out that sky. Irene’s coming soon!
A few weeks ago I picked up Amy’s vegetarian chili.  A few days ago I finally got around to eating it.  OMG it was amazing.  It had pieces of ground up tofu and was a bit spicy.  But you know I love spicy!  I would buy this again in a heart-beat.  I’ll even try a spicier version probably.
Dealing with guilt
Unfortunately, since I missed my workout this morning, I can’t help but feel guilty.  Technically it didn’t rain this morning and I could have gotten up an hour earlier to go for at least a half hour fun.  But I didn’t.  Guilt is hard sometimes to deal with because its so easy to beat yourself up over missing a workout.  I just have to remember that if my muscles don’t rest, I won’t be able to run next week.  Recovery, recovery, recovery!  Read below for my 3 tips on dealing with guilt
  1. Remember that muscles need time to recover.  It’s hard to understand that fact when you’re in a rut about missing a workout.  But at the end of the day, an injured muscle is not good!  I remember when I was dancing at school, I ripped both hamstrings and continued to dance on it, even after the school nurse told me that if they turn black and blue to STOP dancing for a few months.  Did I listen? NO. And they still hurt to this day.
  2. Write down your feelings.  I used to write in my paper journal every day, but lately I haven’t.  Now I blog!  But I still keep a paper journal for personal stuff.  It’s better to vent than keep those emotions inside.
  3. If you need to do some type of physical activity, do something light such as stretching or a few yoga sequences.  Just be careful and take it slow.
If any of you have any tips on dealing with guilt please write them down below in the comments.  Would love some advice.

that's a great tip Katie. Sometimes ya just gotta give yourself a break.

One of my favorite sayings is "guilt is a wasted emotion" – it gets you no where. Gets you nothing.

I know it's hard…I deal with it a lot, too – but just think…it does NOTHING for you,so try to drop it.
