New Additions to Our Dining Room

Thank you to Wooden Whale Workshop for providing product for this post.
As always, all opinions are my own. For more information see my disclosures here.

Bryan and I recently signed our third lease at our apartment complex. In the time that we’ve been here, we’ve never used our “dining room.” I put that in quotes because it’s not technically a separate room. We have an open concept floor plan, so our foyer, kitchen, dining room and living room all are in one large space. Up until last week, there was nothing in the space except for a mirror on the wall and a super ugly, outdated light fixture (I wish I had a photo to show you!).

I knew that I wanted a rustic wooden table for our dining room, but I was limited due to the space we had to work with. I searched for months in stores and online but came up empty. That was until I thought to search on Etsy. I had used Etsy in the past for paper goods and items for our wedding, but never thought to look there for furniture. After doing a quick search for “wooden rustic tables” I found the Wooden Whale Workshop.

I browsed through the shop, fell in love with the products, and immediately sent an email to the owner, Amanda. I told her which tables on her site closely resembled what I had in mind for our apartment. Amanda makes all her products from scratch and is able to accommodate any size table her clients need. After measuring our space and letting Amanda know the maximum size that would fit, I also told her what color stain I wanted. After a few weeks of emails back and forth, our table was complete and ready to be shipped out.

Our table did not arrive assembled, but that was only because I was worried about it fitting through our front door. Amanda provided all the screws and bolts necessary to assemble the legs, and even drilled holes in the wood so we knew where exactly the legs would go.  I won’t pretend that I put it together (thanks Bryan!), but Bryan said it wasn’t difficult at all. He did it one morning while I was still sleeping.

Now that we have a dining room table, I’m so excited to finish decorating. I’m still looking for chairs and a centerpiece. I LOVE the look of these upholstered chairs, but I want something a bit lighter in color. In fact, I’ll probably put together an On My Radar post next week with some of my favorite chair options. For a centerpiece, I’ll probably utilize one of the vases we received for our wedding.

Once the dining room is all put together, I’ll share a full reveal.
