On My Radar: Home Goods

If I had to describe my home style in a few words, I’d say it is modern/boho/earthy. I love clean lines, exposed beams and brick, and lots of plants. I’m obsessed with the homes of Shay Mitchell, Lauren Conrad, and Mila Kunis, and my dream home would have Mediterranean-style architecture.

Since I’m not buying a home anytime soon, I’ll have to settle for making my apartment as homey as possible. The room that I’m working on currently is our home office. It’s finally starting to look like a functioning space. After 2 years of living here, it’s about damn time.  I purchased some great indoor plants and succulents this past weekend and they truly bring some life to the  space. As I was searching for office decor online, I also came across some other pieces that I’d love to have for our home.

HOMEWISHLIST

1. Agate Bookends: I love these West Elm bookends and they’d look stunning on our office bookshelf. They come as individual pieces or in a set of two. I recently got an amethyst druze and a clear quartz cluster from HealingCrystals.com so these agate bookends would fit in with my current office decor.

2. Cole Task Table Lamp: This antique silver desk lamp has been on my wishlist for the last few months and I hope I purchase it soon – or at least find an affordable dupe. Our current floor lamp in the office is pretty old and really doesn’t go with my vision for the space.

3. Cork Board: I completely forgot to pick this up at Ikea when I was there on Saturday. It’s really cheap and is exactly what I’m looking to add to my desk in the office. I’m planning on putting together a mood board with lots of photos, text and other pretty things that make me happy and inspired.

4. Box Frame Console: This would be for our foyer. We currently have a pretty large shelving unit there and it’s way too big for the space. If we got a much smaller table, we’d be able to get a storage basket for underneath. There’s no way though that I’d spend over $300 for this table, so if anyone can help me find a more cost-effective option, comment below!

5. Faceted Terrariums: These would look gorgeous in our bedroom. I’m looking to add more greenery to the space and these terrariums are perfect for holding succulents, soil and other natural elements. I recently purchased this glass box from Target and I think the gold terrariums would look great next to it!

6. Fire String Lights: I recently saw these in a Youtube video and fell in love. They would look amazing strung around my new office shelf (which I still have to install!). These plus a few candles would provide such a calming atmosphere.

Thanks so much for reading my post today!

Several DIY suggestions: 1. Recently on Pintrest I believe, I saw a pin on repurposing ceiling light fixtures into amazing faceted terrariums. Some were very similar to the photo you have. 2. Your console table could be fabricated from copper tubing and a top of some kind (a repurposed table leaf or a piece of slate or marble for instance). If you didn’t like the copper color, it could be spray painted! As you can tell, my style is all about repurposing into something fantastic!

those are some wonderful ideas, Janis! Thanks for sharing!
