Sneaky Pete’s Oatstanding Beverage Review

I get emails from publicists very frequently.  Most bloggers do.  Considering I ‘m a publicist as well, I know how to deal with them.  I know better than to pitch a story idea to a blogger/reporter/editor etc. without knowing what that individual covers.  That being said, I get some CRAZY pitches.  Once I received a pitch about an irritable bowel syndrome medication.  If the publicist took one look at my blog, she would know that I cover healthy living – not pharmaceutical drugs.  I actually promote the use of natural products!

One day I received an email asking if I’d like to try an oat based beverage called Sneaky Pete’s Oatstanding Beverage.  I was intrigued, but my first reaction was “A watered down version of oatmeal in a bottle?!”  After looking into the product a bit more and speaking with the representative from the PR team I wanted to give them a chance, and I am SO glad that I did!

About – Why oats?!

Sneaky Pete’s is the first oat based beverage and contains 3 grams of dietary oat fiber and 2 grams of soluble fiber in each 12 ounce bottle.  It is a really good and easy way to get the fiber you need into your system.  I know that some people really don’t like eating fiber-rich foods, so this is a great way to get the nutrients that your body needs without having to eat a bowl of hot oatmeal.

Fiber is an important nutrient that helps reduce cholesterol levels and may lower the risk of heart disease.  You may have heard people who want to loose weight mention fiber, because fiber also helps provide a feeling of fullness with fewer calories.

Other amazing things to note:

  • All of the ingredients used are natural.
  • Sneaky Pete’s does not contain any artificial colors or flavors.
  • Sneaky Pete’s is Kosher and vegan.  (I’m not Jewish or vegan, but thought I’d mention)
  • It helps with digestion!  Fiber adds bulk to help move food through the digestive tract to promote regularity.  I’ll leave it at that Smile

Flavors

You can enjoy Sneaky Pete’s in 5 flavors:  Apples Away, Grape Escape, Mango Mystique, Peach Perfection, and Raspberry Beret.  So far I’ve had the Apples Away and the Peach Perfection and both are honestly equally as good.  Bryan tried them out as well and he’s a huge fan.  He’s already talking about purchasing these in-store.

Sneaky Pete’s contains natural ingredients without the calories.  Here is how:

  • Stevia – The plant is from a natural leaf, not a lab and has been used to sweeten foods for more than 200 years.
  • Erythritol – It’s an all natural, non-caloric sweetener.  It’s present in pears, melons and grapes as well as wine, soy sauce and cheese!
  • Evaporated Cane Juice – This is pressed from fresh sugarcane to produce cane juice that is filtered and crystallized into sugar.

Taste

These drinks seem a bit strange, I know… but you have to give them a chance.  I was reluctant to even opening these drinks, but I knew that I had to at least have a sip!  The sip turned into a gulp and another gulp and a “mmmmm” … until Bryan asked what I was doing in the kitchen.  I told him all about the products and tried to leave out the fact it had oats in them.  He eventually read the bottle and saw that it was made from oats and had fiber.  I thought for sure that he wouldn’t give it a chance.  To my surprise however, he took a sip and fell in love!

It’s important to shake the bottles before drinking to ensure that all of the soluble fiber is dissolved.  You can store the drinks at room temperature, but it’s recommended that you place them in your fridge.

Where to buy?

I’ve never tried anything like this before, but I’m intrigued!

I’ll have to hunt them down at Wegman’s!

Yes! I know it sounds so weird and kind of gross, but they are actually really good. Perfect when you want a refreshing but light drink!
