Weekend Recap (6/23 – 6/24)

This past weekend was much needed.  I knew when I woke up on Friday morning for work that I wanted to spend the weekend relaxing… and that is exactly what I did, my friends.  Saturday morning, I woke up around 7:30 am and put on my yoga gear for a Whole Foods’ $5 rooftop yoga class.  I checked the weather for the morning and it wasn’t going to get super hot until 11 am.  PERFECT.

I really enjoyed the class.  It was a different teacher from the last rooftop session, but I had a great experience!  It was a Vinyasa flow class, which I’m used to practicing, and had the right mixture of sun salutations and binds.  One moment from the class that really stuck with me was when the instructor said,

“How you view yourself on the mat is how you view yourself in your daily life.”

There are some things that yoga instructors say that seem a little flighty, but every once in a while an instructor will give advice that will stick with me long after class is over.  When I’m practicing, I feel as though I’m constantly fidgeting and comparing myself to the others in the class.  In order to try and focus in on myself, I tend to close my eyes.  A yoga goal of mine for the future is to really concentrate on my own body and feelings without having to close my eyes.

On my way home, I stopped by Starbucks.  I was really trying hard not to spend money there, but (a) I really wanted an iced soy chai and (b) I’m trying to get to Gold card status (only 4 more visits)!

After yoga, I spent the rest of the day at the pool relaxing and finishing Kara‘s book.

I woke up on Sunday morning around 7:30 am to go to the bathroom and soon realized how bad my shoulders/back/arms hurt from yoga.  Back to bed I went!  I slept for another hour and a half and then got dressed for brunch at the Cheesecake factory with my friend Lauren.  We met for brunch at 11am.  Last time we went for brunch at 10am and learned our mimosa lesson.  There’s a law in PA that states that restaurants can’t start serving alcohol until 11am.  This time we did it right.  We got there just as they started serving mimosas!  PERFECT.

After a delicious and filling brunch, I did … you guessed it more RELAXING AND LAYING BY THE POOL!  Today was super warm outside, almost 90 degrees, so Bry and I went into the pool today instead of just laying on the chairs.  The pool wasn’t as crowded as usual today and there weren’t so many kids running around!

Once we were exhausted from the pool, we ran a few errands.

  1. Ulta
  2. Giant (grocery store)
  3. CVS
  4. Giant trip #2 (for juice that we forgot the first time)

During the 2nd trip to Giant, I came across this headline:

I was a little bummed, because it was just last week that I came across a cover story that stated they WERE pregnant.  LAME.

Oh, and Kara Goucher also retweeted my tweet about her book review I did on my blog.  No big deal.  Just Kara Goucher, Olympic runner.

What did you do this weekend?
