What’s in My Grocery Bag

November 30, 2012 | 8 Comments Categories: Diary, Food

I would normally do a Friday Favorites post today, because it’s of course FRIDAY but instead I want to do a food post.  I can’t even remember the last time I did one of those.  Now that I’m done half marathon training, I have a lot more flexibility on topics I feel like writing about!

I haven’t had many nights to my self this week, so when I came home from work yesterday I was excited to have time to do whatever I wanted.  So what did I choose to do?  I went food shopping!  For most people, food shopping is a chore but I enjoy it!

I went to my two favorite grocery stores:  Whole Foods and Trader Joes!

Are you wondering what I put into my cart? Here’s a look at the goodies I came home with from Trader Joes:

Bananas, Carrot Ginger Soup, Butternut Squash Triangoli (x2 b/c I LOVE these cold)

Healthy 8 Chopped Veggie Mix, Edamame, Mini Pearl Grape Tomatoes

Clif Kid Z Bar in Iced Oatmeal Cookie, Pumpkin Cream Cheese

Romaine lettuce, Sweet potatoes

Poinsettia for my office

I didn’t get too many items from Whole Foods, because at this point I was tired and just wanted to get home.  I just want to note here that I am not a nutritionist nor a medical doctor.  The views I express are mine alone and shouldn’t be taken as medical advice.

Overall I did really well! I only spent about $40 and came home with some great additions for meals this weekend and into next week.  I’ve been feeling REALLY uninspired when it comes to food recently.  Lunches have been PB & J’s and dinners have been anything I can throw together in less than 5 minutes, because I am starving from not eating a filling lunch.  I’m happy to be inspired to make more interesting meals.

Have a great weekend, every one.  I’ll talk to you all again on Monday, but remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for daily updates!

Trader Joes is actually really affordable. Much cheaper than Whole Foods, in my opinion./

Dark chocolate cranberries sound yummy! I actually get most of my shelf-stable foods at Target.
