Feeling Overwhelmed

  /
July 10, 2013

I woke up this morning and realized that it was already Wednesday.  Immediately my to-do list for the day ran through my head and I began to feel immediately overwhelmed.  Not only do I have a full day of work at my agency job, but I also have to stop at my Dermatologist office some time today, and do a Skype meeting with a potential wedding photographer at 7:30PM.  That means that I have to get home from work, make a quick dinner and get ready for that call.  Didn’t really leave me with much time for anything else.

Then I decided to make a list of things I want to get accomplished this week and place it on my desk in my home office.

1.  Create organizer for coupons.  My purse looks like a disaster zone lately.  I need to pick up a small accordion folder to keep in my purse at all times with my coupons organized by store.  That way, next time I’m at the grocery store I’m not fumbling around for that one coupon I swore I had someplace.

2.  Develop a workout plan/schedule.  I talked about this in my July Goals post, and it’s something that I do place a high priority on.

3.  Organize freelance writing work.  Did you know that I write for FitDay.com?  Well now you do Smile.  I write about a post or two a week (on good weeks) and it’s pretty easy to get overwhelmed when I’m a few posts behind and I have them piling up in my workflow queue.

4.  Develop a content calendar for Simply Nicole.  This will make my blog more enjoyable for me and for you!  Luckily, at the moment I don’t have any reviews that need to be written or guest posts that I have to complete, but I’d like to set up a small binder for all of my blog stuff.  You bloggers out there understand.

I hope that having this list right on my desk at home will keep it in mind all week.  I think once I get those big items out of the way, my day-to-day won’t be so overwhelming.

In other news, you know what I did do yesterday…

I FINALLY hung up the photos that I wanted over my desk in my home office!  It only took about an hour of frustration, but it got done (with the minor help of Bryan of course).  It was pretty difficult to hold the level and measure it all out, so he helped with that.  But I did all the hammering myself!

I’m thrilled with the way they turned out.  Those posters were sitting in the backseat of my car for months.  (Actually they were in their original tubing rolling under my car seats).  But now they finally have a home in my office.  After a long process of framing them and hanging them, they are finally installed!

Haha, I do the same thing! Whenever I have a lot to get done, I just read blogs. Helps me get inspiration for organizing. I have a whole slew of organization blogs I’m currently reading. It’s helping I think lol.

Chelsea @ LittleOneRuns

Just each one, and mark it off the list, they will all get marked off eventually 🙂 Love your posters btw!

Nicole @ Simply Nicole

Thanks Chelsea! I love them too. So happy that they finally got put up. Now to get some flowers and more wall art I think.

Kierston @candyfit

A calendar is always so helpful in keeping things in check and, in perspective 🙂

Yes for sure. I know it’s going to help when I have no idea what to write about on any given day. I’m going to place a notes section in my new binder and use that for random blog topic ideas I get. They sure do come at random times.

Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie

I love your office pictures! They’re inspiring.

Nicole @ Simply Nicole

Thanks Erin! I hope they keep me inspired 🙂 By the way, I saw your wedding pictures on FB… you looked GORGEOUS!

creating an editorial calendar—no matter how fluid it always seems to be :-)—reallly helped lessen my feelings over OVERWHELMNESSMENT.

tremendously.

I think having that ed calendar will really keep me motivated each day to get my blog post done. It will also help me with scheduled posts, I’m sure.
