On Monday, Bry, myself, and two of our friends took the train up to NYC.  We were happy to find that there weren’t that many people still up there from new year’s eve.  We arrived in Penn Station around 10am and were welcomed with windy cool weather.  Without an agenda, we simply walked all around the city trying to find various places.  Looking back, we probably should have mapped it out a bit better.  For example, we ended up walking past Rockefeller Center 3x in search for other places.

One place that I was very excited to see was Central Park. In the few times I’ve been to NYC, I never had the opportunity to see the park. It’s huge! We looked at it on Google Maps when we got home and didn’t realize how much area it actually covers. It took us quite some time to reach the park though. We walked all the way from Penn Station to Central Park. It was definitely worth the walk. We saw a lot of horse and carriage rides, police on little tricycle cars, and bathrooms that looked like houses.

During our trip we also got to walk around Bryant Park and get cupcakes from Crumbs. I ordered the apple strudel cupcake, but saved it for once I got home. [Side note: it was heaven].

The store was much smaller than I anticipated.

Here are some other random photos from the day:

I enjoyed the day so much, aside from the killer migraine I got from walking around in the cold. I should have worn better shoes though. Walking around for hours in my brown boots was a mistake.

Have you ever been to NYC?

Sometimes walking around NYC is better than actually doing anything, anyway. 🙂

So true! We had an amazing time.

Never been to NYC but am dying to go. Love the idea of the place so much that I did a blog post to all the places (food related) I’d visit here http://girlonraw.com/2011/11/i-heart-ny/

So jealous of your trip 🙂

I live outside of Philadelphia, so NYC is not that far. I’ve only been there a handful of times though.
